Pelvic Floor Therapy for Sexual Dysfunction

Sexual dysfunction can affect any adult regardless of gender, and can come from many causes, many of which have to do with the pelvic muscles and nerves of the pelvic floor. It is not one singular medical condition, but a set of symptoms that involves some combination of persistent and recurrent problems with sexual response and desire, pain during sex, or difficulty with orgasm.

Many people suffering from some form of sexual dysfunction can find rapid and lasting relief from pelvic floor physical therapy. JAG PT’s specialist pelvic floor therapists treat conditions like these with the highest degree of sensitivity and respect for our patients, combining physical therapy modalities to help people heal their pelvic regions, restore function, reduce pain, and find fulfillment in their sexual relationships again. You can contact us to learn more, read further on sexual dysfunction below, or schedule an appointment at your nearest JAG PT location in New York, New Jersey, or Pennsylvania.

What Causes Sexual Dysfunction?

Sexual dysfunction isn’t a single disease or condition with one immediate cause. The pelvic health problems resulting in sexual dysfunction may be the secondary effects of pelvic floor dysfunction, heart disease, metabolic disorders, hormone imbalances, endometriosis, physical trauma, or other conditions. They can also come from medication side effects, lifestyle-related causes such as smoking or alcohol use, or psychological and mental health factors.
